How Spam Call Blocker works

Spam Call Blocker is a reliable and simple-to-use app that will help you fight against spam and scams more efficiently. Nowadays, spamming is an enormous problem in the everyday lives of many of us. Without a doubt, such unpleasant and annoying situations can quickly become dangerous, especially when talking about phishing calls.

This handy app significantly helps reduce the number of received spam and scam calls to users worldwide. With the use of the Spam Call Blocker, you don't have to be afraid anymore of unwanted call attacks. It will provide you with a high level of protection thanks to its advanced spam-blocking feature powered by artificial intelligence technology, which is made out of a regularly updated and expanded database of suspicious and dangerous phone numbers.

How to enable Spam Call Blocker

After downloading the app, it is necessary to enable spam call-blocking protection in your device's settings. Without doing so, the app is unable to provide you with the highest level of security.

You can enable the Spam Call Blocker directly via the app:

1. In the Protect tab, tap on the bottom Set up now button to enable Call Protection.
2. You will be taken directly to the Settings of your device. Tap on Call Blocking & Identification.
3. Switch on Spam Blocker - v1, Spam Blocker - v2, and also Spam Blocker - v3 and head back to the app.

Alternatively, you can enable Spam Call Blocker manually in your device’s settings:

1. Go to your iPhone's Settings.
2. Scroll down and look for the green app Phone and tap on it.
3. In the lower section of the screen, tap on Call Blocking & Identification. 
4. Make sure to switch on Spam Blocker - v1, Spam Blocker - v2, and also Spam Blocker - v3.

What can be found in Spam Call Blocker

Spam Call Blocker is based on 3 core features:

1. Verify
2. Block
3. Protect

• Verify feature

Location: tap on the bottom Verify on the main navigation

The verify feature lets you verify any suspicious phone number in a few seconds following a few simple steps. It will tell you whether the number is safe to answer or not.

How to verify a phone number

1. In the Verify tab, simply type the phone number in the upper Search by Number text field. Don't forget to use the correct international prefix, e.g.,+1 for US or +44 for UK phone numbers.
2. Tap on the black Search button on the right.
3. The app will then look for the selected phone number in our database of dangerous phone numbers, and based on the records, it will mark the number either as safe or dangerous.
4. If the number is spam, it is marked with a red icon. You can choose to add it to your personal Blocklist so it won't ever bother you again. In other words, your phone won't ring if it calls you.

     5.  If the number is not spam, it is marked with a green icon.

TIP! If you are convinced that the verified phone number is not safe to answer even though it has been marked as safe, you can add it to your private Blocklist by tapping on Add to my Blocklist.

• Block feature

Location: tap on the bottom Blocklist on the main navigation bar

Thanks to the block feature, you can add any unwanted phone numbers to your personal Blocklist, so they never bother you again. The number in the Blocklist won't be able to reach you.

How to block a phone number

1. In the Blocklist tab, tap on the Add Number.
2. In the Phone Number field, type in the number. Don't forget to use the correct international prefix, e.g.,+1 for US or +44 for UK phone numbers.
3. In the Select Category field, select an appropriate category. You can choose Spam, Telemarketing, Fraud or Scam, Debt Collecting, RoboCall, and Survey.
4. In the Write Comment field, you can type any note for your use.
5. Tap on the bottom Add to Blocklist to block the phone number.
6. All done! The phone number added to your Blocklist won't reach you.

TIP! Anytime you decide, you can unblock the number by removing it from the Blocklist. To do so, simply swipe the number to the left and tap Delete.

• Protect feature

Location: tap on the bottom Protect on the main navigation bar

Protect feature offers you the most effective protection against spammers and scammers. 

It can perform in two different modes. You decide on which your device will run on or switch anytime between them:

1. Identify - if a spam number rings you up, Spam Call Blocker will display a warning about an incoming spam call and give you a hint, whether it is telemarketing, survey, etc. You can decide to accept the call or decline and eventually block the number.
2. Block- if a spam number tries to reach you, the Spam Call Blocker won't let it through. In other words, your phone won't even ring, and you won't know a number was trying to reach you.

How to enable the Protect feature

1. In the Protect tab, tap on the bottom Set up now button to enable the Call Protection first if you haven't already done so, as mentioned earlier in this article.
2. You will be taken directly to the Settings of your device. Tap on Call Blocking & Identification.
3. Switch on Spam Blocker - v1, Spam Blocker - v2, and also Spam Blocker - v3 and head back to the app.
4. Now, you have to sync your device with the spam database. For this sync, you need an active internet connection.
5. In the Identify tab, tap on Update Database, which is marked with a red label Out of date. Do not close or minimize the app while Updating until you see a green icon Up to date. 
6. Switch to the Block tab and tap on Update Database. Again, do not close or minimize the app while Updating until you see a green icon Up to date.
7. Decide if you want your device to run on the Identify or Protect mode. Based on your decision, tap on Identify or Protect tab.
8. All done! The Protect feature is successfully enabled and is ready to protect you in the chosen mode.

After the initial sync, we strongly recommend not to close the app, just minimize it into the background so that it can keep refreshing the database. Since there are literally thousands of new spam numbers popping up every day, the database may need to be refreshed several times per day to be effective against the new numbers.

For maximum protection, make sure your database is always updated daily. You can also manually force the sync by tapping the button Update Database.
